ABB will invest $28.5 million to expand its manufacturing facility at 5900 Eastport Blvd. in Henrico County, Virginia, Governor Glenn Youngkin announced September 16, 2025. The expansion will add a new test center, warehouse, and assembly lines to the facility, which ABB has operated since 1968. The project is expected to create more than 100 jobs over the next three years at a site that currently employs 184 workers.
What it means
The Henrico County facility manufactures power distribution units and static transfer switches, producing approximately 2,500 units per year. Products support data centers, hospitals, and manufacturing plants. Products protect servers, MRI machines, and production lines from electrical failures. The expansion adds a new test center, warehouse, and assembly lines to the Henrico County facility. Franklin Sullivan, ABB Electrification SVP of Industry Partnerships, said the company is “continually investing in our workforce and advanced manufacturing footprint in the United States – our largest global market – to support our customers as they focus on improving energy efficiency and uptime while reducing their energy costs.”
The Virginia Economic Development Partnership worked with Henrico County to secure the project. Governor Youngkin approved a $300,000 grant from the Commonwealth’s Opportunity Fund to assist Henrico County, and VEDP will support ABB’s job creation through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program.
