Wieland, a global copper manufacturer, will expand its existing production facility in Pine Hall, Stokes County, North Carolina, investing more than $27 million and adding 50 new jobs, Governor Roy Cooper announced December 4, 2024. The expansion will add manufacturing lines producing Tech Tubes — high-performance tubes for heat transfer in air conditioning and refrigeration — and Cold Plates, energy-efficient cooling devices for electronics. Wieland Copper Products received a $100,000 performance-based grant from the One North Carolina Fund in connection with the project.

What it means

The Pine Hall facility will gain new production capacity aimed at meeting rising market demand for tubing and energy-efficient cooling systems in the HVAC, defense, and aerospace industries. The 50 positions will carry an average annual wage of $56,900, which exceeds the current Stokes County average wage of $36,481; the new jobs could generate more than $2.8 million in annual payroll impact for the region.

The One North Carolina Fund grant of $100,000 is performance-based: Wieland Copper Products receives no money upfront and must meet job creation and capital investment targets before qualifying for payment. The grant also requires a matching contribution from local governments. Ivan Di Stefano, President of Wieland Thermal Solutions and SVP of Wieland Group, said the expansion reflects the company’s “proud impact in Pine Hall” and credited the North Carolina Department of Commerce and Stokes County as instrumental in advancing the project.
