Governor Greg Abbott announced on March 7, 2025, a $2 million grant from the Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund (TSIF) to KoMiCo Technology, Inc., a precision cleaning and coatings provider for semiconductor wafer manufacturing tools. The grant, the fourth awarded under the TSIF, supports KoMiCo’s expansion of its Round Rock, Texas facility. KoMiCo plans to invest $36 million in capital and add more than 40,000 square feet to the facility, with the expansion expected to create 70 new jobs.
What it means
The Round Rock expansion will increase KoMiCo’s clean room capacity and add production lines covering contamination removal and coating application for wafer manufacturing tools, including chamber tool parts handling sub-10nm geometry. KoMiCo, a wholly owned subsidiary of KoMiCo Ltd., sells parts cleaning and coating services and equipment parts to semiconductor industry customers. Governor Abbott said the investment “supports increased chip production right here in Texas.” KoMiCo USA CEO Sung Soo Jang said the grant “reinforces our industry” and “strengthens the technological fabric of our nation.”
The TSIF was established by the Texas CHIPS Act, which Abbott signed into law in 2023. The fund and its companion body, the Texas Semiconductor Innovation Consortium (TSIC), are administered by the Texas CHIPS Office, a newly formed division within the Governor’s Texas Economic Development & Tourism Office.
