Governor Greg Abbott announced a $3,074,255 grant from the Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund (TSIF) to Quantum Global Technologies, LLC (QGT), a subsidiary of Ultra Clean Holdings, Inc. The award supports the construction of a new services facility in Austin, Texas, which represents more than $43 million in capital investment and is expected to create 287 new jobs.
What it means
The grant enables QGT to establish Ultra Clean’s first North American location equipped to service semiconductor fabrication chamber tool sets for 2nm chip production. The facility will provide ultra-high purity parts cleaning, process tool part recoating, and high-sensitivity micro contamination analysis. Governor Abbott stated that “Texas is the hub for semiconductor innovation,” while Ultra Clean CEO James Xiao said, “We appreciate the support from the Governor’s Office and the continued commitment to strengthening Texas’ semiconductor ecosystem.”
The funding comes through the TSIF, which was established by the Texas CHIPS Act signed into law by Governor Abbott in 2023. The act also created the Texas Semiconductor Innovation Consortium (TSIC). Both programs are administered by the Texas CHIPS Office, a division within the Texas Economic Development & Tourism Office in the Office of the Governor.
