Integer, a global medical contract developer and manufacturer, plans to expand its operations in Salem, Virginia, by leasing an additional 13,000-square-foot manufacturing facility at 200 S Yorkshire St. Governor Glenn Youngkin announced the project on April 15, 2025. The expansion will increase production of catheter components for Integer’s cardio and vascular business segment, with 83 new jobs projected over a five-year investment period. Integer has operated in Salem for 30 years, manufacturing catheters, guidewires, stents, and pacemakers.
What it means
The new facility adds dedicated production capacity for catheter components alongside Integer’s existing Salem operations. Virginia is supporting the project with two state grants — $350,000 from the Commonwealth’s Opportunity Fund directed to the City of Salem, and $500,000 from the Virginia Investment Performance Grant Program — both approved by Governor Youngkin. The Virginia Economic Development Partnership worked with the City of Salem and the Roanoke Regional Partnership to secure the project.
Workforce support will be provided through the Virginia Talent Accelerator Program, a customized training program created by VEDP in collaboration with higher education partners and offered at no cost to qualifying companies. Business Facilities ranked the program No. 1 among customized workforce training programs in the United States in 2024.
