Linde announced on July 31, 2026, that it will invest $1 billion to expand its industrial gases complex in Phoenix, Arizona, supporting an expansion by one of the world’s largest semiconductor manufacturers. The company was awarded a long-term agreement to supply ultra-high-purity nitrogen, oxygen, and argon to two new semiconductor fabrication facilities at the site. Linde will build, own, and operate two new SPECTRA® air separation units (ASUs) and associated infrastructure, adding to the three existing ASUs already operating at the Phoenix location.

What it means

The $1 billion investment increases Linde’s on-site gas production capacity in Arizona. The Phoenix site will become one of Linde’s largest investments for an electronics customer globally. The expansion adds two new ASUs to complement the three existing units.

Linde also reported second-quarter 2026 financial results alongside the announcement. Net income rose 9% year-over-year to $1,928 million, while diluted earnings per share increased 11% to $4.15. Adjusted net income, excluding purchase accounting impacts from Linde AG, was $2,089 million, an 8% increase. Second-quarter sales reached $9,289 million, up 9% from the prior year, including a 2% favorable currency impact. The company declared a quarterly dividend of $1.60 per share for the third quarter of 2026, payable on September 17, 2026, to shareholders of record on September 3, 2026.

In related developments, Linde LienHwa was selected by the same customer to supply industrial gases to new semiconductor manufacturing and advanced packaging facilities at multiple sites in Taiwan. Linde LienHwa plans to invest approximately $800 million to build, own, and operate several ASUs and hydrogen production units for those projects. Additionally, Linde signed six new power purchase agreements across Europe, Africa, and India to source renewable electricity, bringing low-carbon power to account for around 50% of its global electricity consumption.
