Governor Josh Stein announced on April 02, 2026, that Linde Inc. will invest more than $75 million to construct an air separation facility in Garysburg, N.C. The industrial gases and engineering company said the project will create 20 new jobs at a site within the Northampton County Commerce Park. Linde is a manufacturer and distributor of industrial gases serving health care, food and beverage, electronics, and chemical industries.
What it means
The facility will produce argon, nitrogen, and oxygen for direct delivery to customers. According to the company, these products support hospital services, semiconductor manufacturing, battery production, and food preservation. Todd Lawson, Linde’s vice president for the East Region, said the company is committed to serving customer needs and growing in the U.S.
The project includes a performance-based grant of $60,000 from the One North Carolina Fund. Under the program’s terms, companies receive no money upfront; payment qualification requires meeting specific job creation and capital investment targets. All OneNC grants also require matching participation from local governments. The announcement listed key project partners including the North Carolina Department of Commerce, Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina, North Carolina General Assembly, Commerce’s Division of Workforce Solutions, North Carolina Community College System, Golden LEAF Foundation, Northampton County, Northampton County Economic Development Commission, and Dominion Energy. Governor Stein said he was pleased to welcome Linde to Northampton County.
