The U.S. Department of Energy announced on July 22, 2026, that the Genesis Mission has secured more than $800 million in committed partner support through the Genesis Mission Consortium. The announcement was made at the inaugural Genesis Mission Summit, alongside the selection of first projects under the mission’s Request for Applications. President Trump launched the Genesis Mission by Executive Order in November 2025.

What it means

The commitments include compute resources and credits, access to foundational AI models, cloud infrastructure, scientific expertise, research partnerships, and direct funding. The Genesis Mission aims to integrate artificial intelligence into transformative scientific discovery. The goal is to double the productivity and impact of American science and engineering within a decade. The Genesis Mission Consortium serves as the central mechanism for engaging organizations committed to advancing the mission’s vision.

The consortium includes all 17 DOE National Laboratories, five NNSA plants and sites, and 41 industry, nonprofit, and philanthropic organizations. Under Secretary for Science and Genesis Mission Director Dr. Darío Gil said, “The Genesis Mission is scaling at a pace that reflects not only the strength of its partners, but the shared determination to transform the nation’s scientific enterprise.” He added, “Each new commitment expands our capabilities and accelerates our progress. Together, we are building an innovation engine of unprecedented power, one that only America can deliver.” The Department of Energy is also expanding engagement to academic institutions.
