Honeywell Aerospace announced Oct. 28 that it plans to invest $500 million in a 300,000-square-foot manufacturing facility at its Tempe, Arizona, campus. The facility is scheduled to open in late 2028 and will serve commercial aviation and defense programs. Honeywell Aerospace said the project will create approximately 600 jobs over time, while construction will support more than 1,000 local jobs.
What it means
The Tempe facility will add complex machining capability within Honeywell Aerospace and will produce Assure advanced actuation systems and Attune vapor cycle cooling subsystems. Its production setup is planned to include modular robotics, automated inspection, digital twins, an integrated digital production system and an end-to-end digital thread.
Honeywell Aerospace said the expansion will support customer growth on existing programs and priority production of critical defense technologies under its supplier framework agreement with the Department of War, signed in March. The company reported $15 billion in new Control Systems program wins.
