Meta announced an expansion of its Montgomery Data Center during a closed construction tour with state and regional leaders on September 23, 2025. The Montgomery Chamber of Commerce shared the news, which brings Meta’s total investment in Alabama’s capital region above $1.5 billion. The company first announced an $800 million commitment to the Montgomery facility in April 2024. The campus, optimized for AI workloads and supporting Meta platforms including Facebook and Instagram, will total more than 1.3 million square feet upon completion.

The expansion adds to an initial $800 million commitment, with the combined investment now exceeding $1.5 billion in the Montgomery area. The completed campus will support more than 100 operational jobs and, according to the Montgomery Chamber of Commerce, more than 1,500 skilled trade workers on site at peak construction. Meta Community Development Regional Manager Henry Thornton said the support of the community and partnership with state and local leaders “made it possible for us to expand our facility and continue investing in Montgomery’s long-term vitality.” Alabama Department of Commerce Secretary Ellen McNair said the expansion “reinforces our state’s ability to compete for global projects, create high-quality jobs and build the infrastructure needed to support a modern economy.”
